Palakkad: The Kudumbashree Mission is all set to make available 100 tonnes of organic vegetables for fair price in the markets for this Onam. The programme will be implemented through ‘Samrudhi’ Joint Liability Group (JLG) scheme of Kudumbashree.
Along with providing financial assistance for starting cultivation, the market for the produce also will be ensured through the programme. About 10 acres of barren land in every panchayat will be made fertile for cultivation.
More than 5000 group farming teams will be formed for the scheme. Vegetables, fruits and rice will be made available in the market through this project. The target of the project is to bring 100 tonnes of vegetables and rice in the market.
As part of the ‘Samrudhi’ scheme, zero interest loans for the group farming teams and training at various levels will start soon. The scheme is jointly implemented by Kudumbashree, Department of Agriculture, Haritha Kerala Mission, Department of Soil Conservation, Suchithwa Mission, district panchayat and local bodies.
This year, Onam Fairs will be organised through local markets and Onam markets will be arranged in all Community Development Societies (CDS). District level inauguration of the scheme will be executed by MLA K. V. Vijayadas on Friday in Parali.
