Green Army introduces readymade seedbeds for farmers in Vadakkanchery
Vadakkanchery (Thrissur): The frequent visit of wild animals was causing a headache for the farmers when they prepare the paddy seedbeds for next season of cultivation. As a solution to this issue, the Green Army in Vadakkanchery will prepare seedbeds in polyhouses. These saplings will be planted using machines.
Vadakkanchery Green Army chief coordinator MR Anoop Kishor and chairman PR Aravindakshan said that they have decided to take up on a package basis the farm works from tilling the land ahead of cultivation and to harvesting produce.
The seedbeds are prepared on trays filled with equal amount of soil and coconut husk as directed by the scientists at Kerala Agricultural University (AKU). This can be planted within eight days using machines. The Green Army members will also deliver vegetable saplings sprouted in fiber pots and mud pots at households.
