Fertiliser spraying drones to make paddy cultivation more efficient
Thrissur: State agricultural department is planning to deploy drones to spray fertilisers across the farms in Kerala. The agro-drone project being implemented in Kerala will enable spraying of organic pest control and fertilisers for paddy farming. The agricultural department has reached an agreement with Rovonize Systems Pvt. Ltd in this regard.
The project will be first used as part of operation 'kole double'. As part of this project, paddy cultivation will be done in kole fields for two seasons. It will be inaugurated on November 30 in Thrissur kole fields.
The drone can be used for spraying up to 30 litres of fertilisers. These drones can go to high altitudes and can spray fertilisers at specific areas
These drones are remote controlled and can cover a distance of four kilo metres. A single drone can spray up to 35 acres of land on a single day.
The data documented in the chip of the drone can be used to adjust the distance it covers, the altitude it can reach and when and where to spray the fertiliser. If the ridges of paddy fields are properly marked, fertiliser can be saved as well.
