Mayyil (Kannur): No flood can defeat Abdul Azeez's love for agriculture. He had started banana farming in a 3-acre barren land, but it was washed away in the flood havoc within 2 months. However, Abdul Azeez was not willing to give up. He started vegetable farming in the same place and is now gaining profit from it.
Pavannoor native Abdul Azeez and wife Nabeesa proved that the losses occurred due to flood can be managed through intercropping. They planted long beans, cucumber, okra and sweet potato as intercrops with the support of Agriculture officer K K Adarsh and agriculture assistants at Kuttiattoor Krishi Bhavan.
