Farmer donates entire harvest from 1.5 acre pineapple farm to CMDRF
Thodupuzha (Idukki): A farmer contributed the entire harvest from his pineapple farm to the Chief Minister's Distress Relief Fund (CMDRF). Poomala native M E Narayanan was willing to donate the pineapple from his 1.5 acre land when DYFI workers asked him for contribution to the CMDRF.
On knowing their intention, Narayanan asked them to sell all the fruits and take the money as his contribution. With this, the DYFI workers harvested about one ton pineapple from the farm after hours of long effort. They sold it in Vazhakkulam market and collected Rs 4000. Apart from this, they also managed to collect Rs 26,000 to the fund.
Narayanan, who is also a member of CPM Poomala local committee, was making a living cultivating in the leased land near his house. When he came to know about the Recycle Kerala project of DYFI, he came forward to offer help. DYFI members harvested the pineapple farm as part of the mission.
