Condition of Cheruvayal Raman remains critical
Dubai: The condition of Cheruvayal Raman, widely known as the protector of traditional paddy seeds, who was admitted at a Dubai hospital following heart attack remains critical.
Raman is still in the ICU. He had regained consciousness for a while. The blood pressure is still low and his body is responding to the medication. At this condition, he can neither be shifted to room nor flown to native place, said the bystanders quoting doctors.
The expense of treatment has reached Dh 52,000 (Rs 10.5 lakhs) in the hospital. A few NRI businessmen have enquired details of the incident after minister for agriculture VS Sunil Kumar requested. An attempt to get help from Indian embassy through NORKA is also underway.
Raman had gone to Dubai to participate in ‘Vayalum Veedum’, an event to promote organic farming. On reaching the event venue on Thursday night, he suffered chest pain and was taken to the Dubai Rashid hospital where he underwent an angioplasty.
Since he is alone, an attempt to bring his relatives to Dubai did not materialise as they do not have passports. No relatives to take care of Raman at hospital is putting the organizers of the event in trouble.
