Rajini to launch party, to contest next Assembly polls
In a major announcement creating a flurry of excitement among his fans, superstar Rajinikanth said he would enter politics and his new party will contest in the next Assembly elections. Addressing a large gathering of fans at the Ragavendra Kalyana Mandap in Chennai on Sunday, the actor said he will form a party and will contest in all 234 constituencies. Quoting a shloka from the Bhagwad Gita which stresses on the importance of doing one duty and leaving the rest to the Lord, he said, This is the compulsion of time. Criticising the present situation in Tamil Nadu’s political scenario, which he termed as shameful, Rajini said democracy is in bad shape now and all states are looking down on TN.
