Aralam:  Three new species of birds have been sighted at the Aralam Wildlife Sanctuary. In the 3-day survey, 150 birds have been sighted.

The new birds that have been sighted are Gray-necked Bunting, Zitting Cisticola and Cinnamon Bittern.

Anuraj, Biju Thenkudy and Ravi Parackal Mundayamparambu captured the visuals of the birds.

Wild life warden V Sajikumar said that the number of birds sighted in Aralam Wildlife Sanctuary have reached 224 with the latest sightings.

The 18th bird survey was completed in Aralam on Sunday, The survey was led by Forest and Wildlife Department and Malabar Natural History Society.

Apart from bird watchers Sathyan Meppayur, Manoj Iritty, Ravi Parackal, Roshnath and Sushanth Madapurackal, several bird lovers from South India and Lakshadweep participated in the survey. 

The team stayed in five places in the Sanctuary to conduct the survey.
