Experienced coach and former international cricketer Dav Whatmore will train the Kerala Ranji Trophy cricket team.

An understanding has been reached between Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) and Whatmore in this regard.

KCA president Jayesh George said that the agreement will be signed with Dav Whatmore on March 22.

This is the first time that a foreigner is coaching the Kerala team.

Former India player Tinu Yohannan is the current coach of the Kerala Ranji team.

KCA sought a new coach in the wake of Kerala team not securing major gains in the last season under the training of Tinu Yohannan..

KCA had been conducting discussions with Whatmore for some time. Moreover, Whatmore had interacted with the Kerala players during the recent Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
