Pala: With the completion of 41 events on the second day of the school athletics meet, Ernakulam and Palakkad are putting up a tough fight for the top spot. With the 100 metres race, the main attraction of the meet, getting over, Ernakulam surged ahead with 96 points. Palakkad is close behind with 92 points.

Aparna Roy of Kozhikode Pulloorampara St. Joseph’s HS HSS in and Anstin Joseph Shaji of Thiruvananthapuram SAI became the fastest female and male athletes by winning the 100m sprints.  Two new national records were also set on Saturday.

Ancy Sojan of Thrissur Nattika Fisheries school and Sandra Baby of Ernakulam Mathirappilly VHSS set records in long jump. (junior girls’ category).

Two meet records were also set on Saturday. While Athulya set the record in discus throw (junior girls category), Abhishek Mathew set the record in 400 metres(junior boys category).

Thiruvananthpauram and Kozhikode secured the third and fourth spot on the second day with 60 and 43 points.

In the school-wise point tally, KHS Kumaraputhoor is leading with 37 points.  Parali HS is in the second spot with 31 points.  Mar Basil HSS Kothamangalam is close behind with 30 points.
