Attingal: A youth caught a python that gulped a mongoose and crawled on to the courtyard of a house. Attingal native Biju caught the python from the premises of his house on Sunday morning.

The householders noticed the python that was holding a mongoose in its mouth in the courtyard. Biju caught the 10-feet-long python as soon as he found it. The python spat the mongoose out after it was caught. Biju handed over the snake to the forest department.

Biju’s house is located near Vamanapuram river. Snakes commonly reach the hillside regions floating in the monsoon floods. The python is assumed to have reached the place in the same way.

A plot nearby the house is surrounded by bushes and shrubs, where the crawling creatures find shelter, said the natives. They alleged that people’s representatives do not take action on the complaints.
