Kannur: People in Kannur will take part in a unique marathon titled ‘Run for Unity’ in the midnight on January 27. The marathon aims to promote the message of unity among the people.

Kannur District Authority in association with DTPC is organising the midnight marathon at 12’o clock on January 27. District collector Mir Muhammad Ali announced the event in a press meet here.

Though marathon is a usual event, the district administration authority and DTPC are organising a midnight marathon for the first time here.

The event also promotes the message of safe night journey in Kannur.

Women only groups, men only groups and mixed groups can take part in the event.

The marathon which will start from collectorate annex complex will cover Thavakkara, Fort road, St.Michael’s School, Payyambalam Guest House road, Muneeshwaran Kovil, Taluk Office and Caltex junction. The marathon will cover 6 km within an hour and conclude at collectorate.

A team of five members are invited to register for the event. T-Shirts in the colour combination of national flag will be given to the participants.

Participants should take selfies in the two selfie points in the route of marathon.

A cash prize of Rs 5,000 will be awarded to the team of men who bag first position in the event. Women's only team and team including women will get a cash prize of Rs 7,000 as first prize.
