UAE work permits: Revised fee structure to up expense for expat workers
Dubai: The fee on work permits in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has been revised with effect from Monday.
The revised free structure is based on the skill level of workers, the business category of the establishment in which they are employed and cultural diversity.
The Ministry has brought in a new system for the classification of business establishments.
The companies have been divided into Category 1 and Category 2 with sub-categories A, B, C, D based on the skill level and number of employees as well as cultural diversity.
The reform will be implemented by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation. The work permit fee is different for each category. Fee for transfer of workers has also been revised.
Meanwhile, work permit fee has been waived for fishermen boats owned by Emiratis and companies recruiting Emiratis or citizens of Gulf countries.
