Thiruvananthapuram: NCP state president TP Peethambaran Master has said that the NCP does not hold the opinion that Thomas Chandy has committed wrong.

Speaking in a press conference held to explain the resignation of transport minister Thomas Chandy over the land encroachment allegations, Peethambaran Master said that it has not been proved that Chandy has committed wrong.

“The news channels tried to create misunderstanding among the public through discussions and reports. This situation led to the resignation of Thomas Chandy. The Chief Minister does not have any doubts regarding Thomas Chandy's innocence. A probe is going on against the two NCP MLAs Thomas Chandy and AK Saseendran. The person who comes out clean in this probe first, will be given the chance to become minister. Till then, the chief minister will handle the portfolio,” Peethambaran Master said.

He pointed out that Thomas Chandy resigned not due to pressure from CPI but due to the direction of the Chief Minister.

"It was the LDF who asked the chief minister to take a decision in this regard. On this basis, the chief minister gave directions to NCP regarding Thomas Chandy's resignation.
