Kochi: The Kerala High Court on Friday said the authorities of Puttingal temple in Paravur cannot be granted bail in the case related to the fire tragedy.

Stating the temple authorities are responsible for the mishap, the court said the police and district administration cannot be blamed.

The temple authorities had contended the district administration and police are responsible for the tragedy. They also said the district administration had not informed the police about the non-issuance of permission and also police personnel were deployed on the temple premises. The court, however, rejected their claims.

Further, it said a detailed probe into the case is required and the temple officials cannot be granted bail now.

The court also rejected the arguments that the contractor possessed licence and the pyrotechnics show was not competitive in nature.

The bail plea will again be heard on coming Friday.
