New Delhi: Congress leader and former KPCC president V M Sudheeran has approached the Supreme Court against the Kerala government’s move to renew licence of the bars functioning along national highways.

In the petition, Sudheeran says the government’s move is a violation of Supreme Court judgment in this regard.

He also pointed out that it was improper on part of the government to seek legal advice from the Attorney General, who represented the bar owners in court.

The Attorney General had told the government that the Supreme Court order banning the operation of liquor outlets within 500 metre-radius of the national highways will not be applicable to bars.
