Karipur: Kozhikode airport has come 7th in national level and 2nd in state in the number of the international passengers, as per the half yearly air traffic statistics closed on September 30. Compared to previous years, there is a 22.49 per cent increase in the number of international passengers in Kozhikode airport.

Among the three airports in the state, Kozhikode has reached second, while Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram occupies first and third positions respectively. Kochi international airport has come in the 4th position in national level and first in the state. The statistics of international passengers were prepared by the Air Traffic Control unit. Delhi international airport tops the list in national level with more than 80 lakh passengers.

In the number of passengers, 8 of the first 12 airports are in South India. Apart from Kozhikode, Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram, Chennai, Mangalore, Hyderabad, Mangalore and Tiruchirappalli also come in the list. Kozhikode also hit an all-time record in the number of domestic passengers as well.
