Dr.T.M Thomas Isaac (64): FINANCE

Isaac will now serve his fourth term in the Assembly and second time as Minister. Elected to the state Legislature from Mararikkulam (2001,2006) and Alappuzha (2011, 2016). He had served as SFI State President.

Honorary Fellow for Centre for Development Studies (CDS), Doctorate in Public Finance, author of nearly 20 books both in English and Malayalam.

He earned money for his studies by doing daily wage jobs. LLB from Kozhikode Law College.

E.P.Jayarajan (66): INDUSTRIES, SPORTS, COMMERCE, KHADI, MINING AND GEOLOGY

ep-jayarajanOne of CPM’s strongman in Kannur. CPM District Secretary for a long time and a member of Central Committee. Elected to Assembly for the third time. Azhikode (1991) and Mattanur (2011, 2016). He was the first national president of DYFI and had served as State President of Karshaka Sangham and General Manager of party mouthpiece Deshabhimani. Patron of Kerala Vyapari Vyavasayi Samithi.

Education: Diploma in Electrical Engineering.

kk-silajaOne of the firebrand woman leaders of CPM. Central Committee member. Janadhipathya Mahila Association State Secretary. Third time MLA, represented Koothuparamba in 1996 and Peravur in 2006. Regained Koothuparamba  in this elections. She left her job as teacher for full time political work. She has served as editor of ‘Sthree sabdam’ magazine.

A.C. Moideen (60): CO-OPERATION, TOURISM

moyideenCame to the limelight by defeating K Muraleedharan (then electricity minister) in Wadakkanchery in 2004. He was elected from Wadakkanchery again in 2006 and from Kunnamkulam in 2016. He was CPM Thrissur District Secretary. Entered politics through SFI.

Kadakampally Surendran (62): ELECTRICITY, DEWASWOM

kadakam-palliHe served as the Thiruvananthapuram District Committee Secretary of the Communist Party of India CPI(M ) from 2007 - 2016. Elected to state legislature for the second time from Kazhakoottam (1996, 2016). DYFI National President. Education: Graduate in Malayalam literature.

KT-jaleelElected to Assembly from Thavanoor twice. First victory against P K Kunhalikutty in 2006 by contesting as LDF independent candidate from Kuttippuram. Started his political career from Muslim League. He has worked as the state General Secretary of Youth League. He then joined the Left front.

He was history professor at P.S.M.O. College, Thirurangady. Spouse: M.P. Fathima Kutty (Valanchery Govt HSS Principal). Children: Asma Beevi (student in the US) and Muhammed Farooq (DU student).

This member of the Kerala Legislative Assembly from Puthukkad Assembly Constituency is a former Chemistry Professor at St Thomas College Thrissur. First elected to state legislature from Kodakara in 2006 and then from Puthukkad in 2011 and 2016. Leader of planning and literacy campaign.

Ramachandran Kadanapally (72): PORT, MUSEUM, ARCHEOLOGY

kadanaapalliThis MLA from Kannur is becoming a minister for the second time.  In 1971 when Kadanapally was the KSU state president, he defeated E K Nayanar in the Lok Sabha polls in Kasargod when he was only 26 years.  When the Congress was split, in 1980 he moved to the LDF. He contested the Assembly elections from Irikkur in 1980 and in 2006 from Edakkad and won comfortably.

p.thilothamanThis Cherthala MLA is tasting his 3rd victory in the Assembly polls.  Started political and social activities from college days, he was CPI’s ALapuzha district secretary and state council member.  Thilothaman was district president of AIYF  and state vice president.  He was also State president of Coir Employees Federation .

e.chandhrasekaranE. Chandrasekharan, a senior leader of CPI entered active politics at an young age. This is his second entry into the Assembly. He is currently the CPI the state executive member and also the state treasurer. Chandrasekharan, who won the Kanhangad seat by a margin of 26011 votes, has also been elected the CPI legislature party leader.

A K Saseendran (71): TRANSPORT, MOTOR VEHICLES, WATER TRANSPORT

saseendranOne among the senior leaders in Kerala politics. Among the two NCP MLAs who got elected this time, Saseendran will assume the post of minister for the first two-and-a-half years as per the pact. In the last half of the term, Thomas Chandy will replace him.

Saseendhran has been elected with the highest majority from Kozhikode district.

A native of Elayavoor in Kannur, Saseendran started his political career through KSU in 1962 After holding various party posts, he joined Congress (S) in 1978.

From 1999, he served as NCP state secretary, 2004-2006 state vice president and is also the NCP legislature party leader and NCP national working committee since 2006.
