Thiruvananthapuram: Veteran CPM leader and Administrative Reforms Commission Chairman V S Achuthanandan has said that encroachments should be removed even if it is a cross.

Asking the government to take stern action against encroachments, Achuthanandan said that all types of encroachments should be removed.

VS had sent a letter to CPM politburo the other day criticising the government action. VS had voiced strong support to the government action against encroachments even though Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan opposed the Revenue Department's action.

The Revenue officials, led by Devikulam sub-collector, had demolished the cross erected by 'Spirit in Jesus' sect at Pappathi Chola the other day.

Pinarayi had criticised the demolition of cross saying that the action will create misunderstanding among the people.

However, Santhanpara police registered a case on the direction of sub-collector Sriram Venkitaraman against the ‘Spirit in Jesus’ head Dr. Scaria who installed the cross in the public place.
