Thiruvananthapuram: Keeping the media and the public guessing over the resignation of Transport Minister Thomas Chandy, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Wednesday said a final call on Chandy’s resignation will be taken after getting the opinion of the NCP’s national leadership.

Addressing the media after the Cabinet meeting, Pinarayi said resignation of Thomas Chandy was not discussed in the meeting.

He said the NCP state leadership, with whom he had a meeting this morning, has sought some time to arrive at a final decision. The NCP leaders will talk to the national leadership and convey their opinion to the CM today itself.

Replying to mediapersons queries over the delay in the decision, CM said the LDF had already discussed the matter. As far as a political front is concerned, allies should be given due respect before taking a final call on matters concerning them.

When asked about the CPI ministers abstaining from the Cabinet meeting, Pinarayi said no ministers should boycott a Cabinet meeting. “It is a very unusual move and is not desirable,” he said.

Referring to the High Court’s observation that the Cabinet has lost its collective responsibility, Pinarayi sought to defer.
