Thiruvananthapuram: KPCC president VM Sudheeran has alleged that a contract lobby in the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) is behind the move to implement the Athirappilly project.

"Everybody knows that there is no benefit to anybody by implementing the Athirappilly project. The contract lobby's aim is to construct the project in order to make profit even though they know that sufficient electricity will not be obtained through the project," Sudheeran alleged.

Sudheeran was speaking to media persons about Power Minister M M Mani's statement in the assembly that the government will move forward with the Athirappilly project.

"The people of the state have grievance against the government for not taking action on issues of women's security, price rice etc. In order to divert the attention from these issues, the government is saying that it would go forward with the Athirappilly project," Sudheeran said.
