Bengaluru: A pall of gloom descended on the Rajarajeshwari Medical College campus after the fatal accident at Ramanagara on Bengaluru-Mysuru National Highway that killed four students, all of them Keralites. 

Joel Jacob, who was a student of this campu,s had introduced his friends to his college mates on Sunday. The entire college was shocked when they heard of the accident later.

The deceased have been identified as Thiruvalla native Joel Jacob, Pathanamthitta Vettipuram native Nikith P. Sudeep, Ernakulam native Rabecca Thomas and Kozhencherry Alappara native Jeena Eldo. While Joel was the 2nd year MBBS student of Rajarajeshwari Medical college in Bengaluru, Jeena and Rabecca were studying at VIT University in Vellore. Nikhith was 2nd year BCom student of Kakkanad Bharath Matha College.

The students hailing from Kerala were killed after the car in which they were travelling collided with a truck at Ramanagara on Bengaluru-Mysuru National Highway in the early hours of Friday. All the four students died on the spot. The car was going to Bengaluru from Mysuru.  As said by eye-witnesses the over speeding car rammed into a lorry after hitting a divider.

The accident took place near Ramanagra Traffic police station 30 km away from Bengaluru. The rescue activities also delayed as the accident happened in the wee hours. The natives who came to the spot informed the police. It took a while to identify the deceased students.

The students had been travelling to Mysuru in the late hours for having dinner. Joel was driving the car. His friends had reached Bengaluru on Thursday to meet Joel. The bodies were identified only after Joel’s body was brought to his college.
