Ayiroor child abuse case: Collector's report finds serious lapses on the part of doctors
Ayiroor: Pathanamthitta District Collector has filed a report against Pathanamthitta District Hospital in connection with child molestation case at Ayiroor. The collector’s report to Secretary of Health Department asserts that the doctors have made serious flaws in examining the molested child.
It has been reported that the five-year-old girl who was sexually assaulted was forced to wait for six long hours for medical examination after the doctors in the District hospital at Kozhenchery refused to examine her. The incident was reported on September 15.
Dr. Ganga and Dr. Lekha in Gynecology department refused to examine the child when she was taken to the hospital accompanied by Police.
The doctors made her wait at the hospital from 3 pm to 8 pm. The child got mentally disturbed after the incident.
R Girija, the district collector has sent the report submitted by Pathanamthitta District Medical Officer mentioniong the inefficiency of the doctors in treating the child, to the Secretary of Health Department.
Though Pathanamthitta First Class Magistrate Court had ordered to register a case against the doctors on the complaint from the child’s relatives, Police has not taken any action yet.
Reji, the accused in the child abuse ase, was arrested under POCSO Act.
