Thiruvananthapuram: Reacting to the statements made by various BJP leaders during their ‘Jana Raksha Yatra’ in the state, CPI state secretary Kanam Rajendran said BJP Chief Amit Shah, who was once barred by the Supreme Court from entering his own state, is now trying to tarnish the image of Kerala.

Speaking at press conference here on Saturday, Kanam said a group people, who have no knowledge about the advancements made by the society or the outcomes of the Renaissance, are now out on the streets spreading such messages.

The main aim of BJP is to disrupt the peaceful atmosphere in the state, he alleged.

After the verdict on the 2005 Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case in October 2010, the apex court had restrained Amit Shah from entering Gujarat, Kanam said, adding that these facts are concealed by the BJP while making such statements against Kerala.

Everyone who have faith in democracy should unite to oppose the Sangh Parivar forces, he added.

The smooth-going 'Jana Raksha Yatra' is Kerala's reply to BJP which had earlier restricted entry of Kerala CM and other Left youth wings to BJP-ruled states.

On Vengara elections, he said the LDF will improve its vote count in the upcoming by-election.
