Achankovil embankment on the verge of collapse
Panthalam: An embankment built for the Panthalam drinking water project across Achankovil river is on the verge of collapse.
The middle part of the structure has become so fragile that it may cave in the near future if the repair work is not done on a war-footing.
Natives said the people who come there for fishing used to remove the stones from under the structure, making it so delicate.
This embankment has been very helpful for the people which balances the water level in wells and water tanks in the region when the river dries up during summer.
