Abhaya case: former crime branch SP named accused
Thiruvananthapuram: The CBI court here issued an order to add former crime branch SP KT Michael in the list of accused who allegedly destroyed the evidences in Sr Abhaya murder case. The court issued the order while hearing the petition filed by Jomon Puthanpurackel.
KT Michael investigated Sr Abhaya’s death and reported that she committed suicide. Sr Abhaya’s dress and her diary were surrendered in Kottayam RDO court as exhibits from the crime scene. But these exhibits were allegedly destroyed before CBI inquiry in the case.
Jomon Puthanpurackkal filed a petition in the CBI court to probe the alleged involvement of the crime branch in destroying the evidence. The CBI court has added former crime branch official as fourth accused in the case after hearing the petition.
Meanwhile, the court dismissed KT Michael’s petition demanding re-investigation in the case. The CBI court will summon KT Michael on February 1.
Fr Thomas Kottoor, Fr Jose Puthrukkayil and Sr Stephy are the three other accused in Sr Abhaya murder case.
