Malathy reaches Malappuram again to save her husband from death penalty
Panakkad: Wife of Tamil Nadu native, who was awarded capital punishment in Kuwait, has reached Malappuram again seeking help. Thanjavur native Arjunan Athimuthu’s wife A Malathy arrived at Panakkad on Tuesay with her father Durai Raju and met Panakkad Munavvar Ali Shihab Thangal at Kodapanakkal house to request his help.
Arjunan was given death penalty in connection with the murder of a Perinthalmanna native. Both of them were working in the same company in Kuwait and an argument over some issue led to the murder. The court ordered to hang Arjunan to death with regard to the murder that happened 4 years ago. The punishment will be commuted, if the victim’s family forgive the person. But their family is demanding Rs 30 lakh as compensation, which Malathy cannot afford. She finds her living from daily wage labour.
Malathy and her family requested Munavvar Ali Thangal to help her husband from death penalty. Munavvar Ali Thangal promised her that he would talk to the victim’s family and provide necessary help. He told the media that Malathy deserves humanitarian consideration and that he would help her by intervening in the issue. He also requested everyone to help her family in all possible ways. Malathy responded that the meeting with Munavvar Ali Thangal gave her relief and that she expects her husband’s punishment will be commuted.
