Ganja raids: Two dealers nabbed with 10 kg contraband
Thiruvananthapuram: Two dealers, one of them a repeat offender, were nabbed by the police in a daring operation in the capital. Johny from Aswathy Bhavan, Amaravila and Thomas from Maryanad Colony, Kazhakkoottam were picked up by a joint team of the shadow police and the city police on specific leads from culprits arrested in drug related cases before.
Deputy Police Commissioner Arul B Krishna said that since the beginning of the year the police have seized 45 kilograms of ganja. He also said that there will be more arrests soon in these cases. Among those caught, Thomas is known to be an agent of Johny who was the kingpin of the contraband transactions happening from Theni, Kambam, Usilampetti and Andhra.
Recently, the police had caught a four member team that evaded the Theni checkpost on the guise of being press persons. This and other arrests in related raids had given specific leads to the accused, Johny. The operation was conducted jointly by the city police and the shadow police and the raid was extended to the houses and shops retrieving such large quantities of ganja.
The police had approached the sellers in the guise of buyers who were ready to buy large quantities. The police team was lead by Control Room AC Suresh Kumar, Kovalam SI Ajayakumar, Pettah SI Chandrabose, Shadow SI Sunil Lal.
