Mananthavady: The dead body that was found buried in a house under construction in Edavaka Paingattiri, imitating the movie ‘Drishyam’, was identified as Tamil Nadu Usilampatti native Asai Kannan (48). Mananthavady Tahasildar N. I. Shaju conducted the inquest on Thursday by 1.30 pm. The dead body was moved to Kozhikode Medical College after thorough examination by Dr. Sujith Sreenivasan and team.

The dead body was identified by Asai Kannan’s wife Manimekhalai and son Jaya Pandi (Vishnu). They identified the person with the identification marks on the body and the clothes. Asai Kannan’s son and his friend are reportedly in custody of police in connection with the incident. Police assume that his sons committed the murder with the help of his friends. However, they have not disclosed much information.

Asai Kannan was in the habit of using alcohol regularly and used to physically assault his wife. His sons are suspected to have murdered him with friends' help, as they were distressed in his behavior. Sundara Pandi and Arun Pandi are other sons of Asai Kannan.

The dead body was found with a shawl tangled around his neck. When the soil was dug, liquor bottles also were recovered along with the body. Police continued investigation under tight security, so that the evidences are not destroyed. The body was found in an under construction house on Wednesday. The labourers working at the house construction site spotted the soil moved in the ground, which later found the body in the search.
