3-men gang hack elderly woman to death, rob house in Cheemeni
Cheemeni: A 3-member gang of criminals hacked an elderly woman and her husband in Puliyannoor and robbed their house. The woman was killed on the spot, while her husband was hospitalized with serious injuries.
P. V. Janaki Amma (66) was murdered brutally by the robbers. Her husband Kalathera Krishnan (85) has been admitted to a hospital in Mangalore. The masked robbers trespassed into their house by 9.30 pm on Wednesday.
The robbers rang the calling bell and rushed to the house, as Krishnan opened the door. They covered his mouth with plaster. When Janaki Amma came running from her bed room, the robbers gagged her mouth too and dragged her inside the house before hacking her. Then they robbed Rs 50,000 and gold ornaments from the house.
Krishnan had fallen unconscious the moment he was attacked. When he regained consciousness after two hours, he called the police and yelled. The neighbours who reached the house found Janaki Amma dead. Krishnan, who was deeply wounded in the neck, was immediately taken to Mangalore hospital. As his nerve was cut, Krishnan was subjected to an emergency surgery. The body of Janaki Amma is kept at the Pariyaram Medical College.
A team of police headed by District Police Chief K. G. Simon and Kanhangad DySP P. K. Damodaran examined the crime spot. Krishnan was Retd. Headmaster of Pothavoor UP School and Janaki Amma was Retd. Headmistress of Puliyannoor LP School. Their children are Manoj (Doctor), Ragesh (Engineer), Geetha and Preetha.
