2 bike-borne riders snatch 10 sovereign chain from woman
Neyyattinkara: More than 10 sovereigns of gold worn by a woman was snatched by two bike riders in broad daylight at Neyyattinkara Hospital junction. The incident took place on Wednesday at 1.45 pm. Two men arrived on bike and snatched the gold ornaments.
Neyyattinkara Kadavattaram Vadakkekkotta native Sindhu (40) lost her 2 gold necklaces. One of the necklace was 6 sovereigns and the other 4 sovereigns, and also a locket and talisman that weighed 29 grams and 19 grams were lost, as per the statement given by Sindhu.
Sindhu and her husband Ajikumar were returning after a wedding ceremony at Moonnukallumoottil. The snatchers got her necklaces, while she and her husband were getting out of a shop at the junction. The snatchers were waiting outside the shop and fled the spot on a bike. Sindhu said that the one who rode the bike had worn a helmet and the pillion rider did not.
Some vague footage of the snatchers was recovered from the CCTV set up in the nearby shops. Though the onlookers ran after the snatchers they could not nab them. Police said that the thiefs headed towards the direction of Thiruvananthapuram. Neyyattinkara CI Pradeep Kumar and SI Bijoy reached the spot and examined. No clear footage was available as the CCTVs in the shops are set up inside the showrooms.
