Singer Sithara cuts hair for a friend; urges fans to talk about issues, not looks
Singer Sithara Krishnakumar has stated that she does not believe in the concept of Malayali womanhood which is defined by length of hair, color of skin or tone of voice. She posted the status in her Facebook page when her fans enquired why she cut her hair. Sithara said that we can talk about the cut trees instead of cut hair.
Sithara appeared in the new look before her fans on children’s day. When Sithara interacted with her fans on live, about the song ‘Kankal Neeye Katrum Neeye’ which was sung and performed by her, many of her admirers asked why she had a haircut.
‘Kankal Neeye’ was actually sung by Sithara for the movie ‘Muppozhuthum Un Karppanaikal’. She sang and performed for its cover version, in which her daughter Sawan Rithu also appeared.

This makeover was done over a purely personal belief, to keep company with a dear friend…!!! Whatever be the reason, I don’t believe in the silly concept of Malayali womanhood which is defined by length of hair, color of skin or tone of voice. I even feel a bit of irritation to those who follow the concept. The self-images, which we are familiar with, can be changed in a flick of a second, right?!
By the time of talking about haircut, let’s talk about the trees cut down!! Instead of discussing faded colour, let’s discuss the dried up rivers!! We can talk about anything like sky, earth, hungry children, wars, upcoming peace, friendship, human beings, songs, and what not!!! Without hurting each other with words, let’s talk and find enlightenment!!
