Thiruvananthapuram: Reacting to police action against those who failed to stand up for the National Anthem at International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK), Director and Kerala State Chalachitra Academy Chairman Kamal said it is unfortunate that the viewers have to stand before every show.

Kamal said National Anthem should be respected and people must stand up when it is played. However, it is unfortunate that viewers have to stand up every time they come to watch a film. Kamal said the Academy has not filed any complaint with police on the matter.

It is the police’s responsibility to ensure peaceful situation at the IFFK, but that the organizers have urged the government not to act in a haste in case of any law and order situation.
