'Can have difference of opinion, but don’t insult national anthem'
Writer and Director Joy Mathew said that though one can have difference of opinion on playing national anthem in theatres, one should not show disrespect to the national anthem.
Joy Mathew was speaking to Mathrubhumi.com about the incident of police taking into custody seven people for not standing up during the screening of the Egyptian film 'Clash' at IFFK.
"Those who are against the playing of national anthem in theatres should question it in court. There is nothing revolutionary in disrespecting the national anthem. It is not right also. A lot of blood and tears is behind the national anthem. Those who live in this country after disrespecting it, should not avail any benefits from this country. They should not see the film festival for free," he said.
