Dubai: The Lulu Group is set to build a new shopping mall in Dubai at an investment of Rs 2000 crore.

The foundation stone for the 23 lakh square-feet mall was laid at Dubai Silicon Oasis by Civil Aviation Authority President and Emirates Airlines Chairman Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum.

Named ‘Silicon Mall’, it will be ready for operations in early 2020 ahead of the Dubai Expo scheduled for October 2020. The main attraction will be the 2-lakh-sq-ft Lulu Hypermarket and departmental store.

Apart from this, the mall will house over 300 retail outlets, 70,000 sq ft recreational facilities, 12 movie screens and more than 50 eateries. Parking facility for 3000 cars will be available. The building will be solar-powered.

The foundation stone laying ceremony was attended by Vice President and CEO of Dubai Silicon Oasis (DSO) Dr Mohammed Al Zarooni and Lulu Group International Chairman and Managing Director M A Yusuf Ali.
