Malappuram: The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) has issued an order slashing the prices of 84 drugs, including those used in the treatment of severe ailments, by up to 84 percent.

Since the list comprise the names of around 30 drugs used for injections, it is presumed that the move could cut the hospital expenses to a great extent.

Meanwhile, NPPA, is working on fixing ceiling prices of stents after the government has notified it in the Drug Prices Control Order (DPCO), 2013 on the basis of complaints over its pricing. The body has called for a meeting of persons associated with the sector in the first week of January.
