Prawn Balchao is a traditional Goan spicy prawn dish.
It can be served with rice or chapati and also can be used as a pickle.
Prawns, marinated in salt– 600 gm
Dried Kashmiri red chillies - 10 numbers
Ginger – a small piece
Garlic cloves – 6 numbers
Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
Cinnamon stick – 1 piece
Cloves – 10 numbers
Vinegar / Lemon juice – 2 tsp
Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
Onion, chopped – 1 number
Tomato, chopped – 2 numbers
Sugar – 1 tsp
Curry leaves – Accordingly
Oil - Accordingly
Add Kashmiri chilies, ginger, garlic, cumin seeds, cloves, vinegar or lemon juice and mustard seeds and grind in a mixer and keep aside.
In a pan, take oil and stir-fry the prawns. Remove it from the pan and set aside.
Add more oil to the pan and saute the curry leaves, garlic cloves and ginger in it.
To this add chopped onion and saute again. When it turns golden brown add chopped tomato and sugar. Cook for some time.
Then add the masala mixture and the prawns to this and saute properly. Then remove from flame and serve.
