Breakfast, the first meal of the day, is the kick-starter which ensures energy to begin the day. Idli is one of the common traditional breakfast item in normal households of Kerala. Here is a recipe to make your normal idli tastier and healthier. 

Green gram: 2 cups
Urad Dal: Half cup
Green chilli: 4 
Salt: As required

Soak Urad Dal and green gram in lot of water for at least 5 to 6 hours. Drain off the water thoroughly and grind them coarsely. After 30 minutes, add salt in the batter as required and idli can be prepared by pouring the batter in the moulds. Don't forget to grease the idli moulds. Steam the idli in a steamer. Cook for 10-15 minutes. Serve it with coconut chutney.
