Rebirth for ‘Kireedam’ Bridge, to become memorial for actor Thilakan

A collective of cultural leaders at Vellayani in Thiruvananthapuram district has decided to preserve the ‘Kireedam’ bridge on Kannukalichal for the fond memories of a popular movie.

This small bridge shot to fame in 1989 with the release of the Mohanlal-starrer 'Kireedam’. Some scenes of the movie were filmed on this bridge. Since then, it got the name 'Kireedam Paalam.' READ MORE 


Thieves steal water from well in Kozhikode village

With the state bracing up for a severe drought, it seems the thieves have found new fortune in water. In a rare incident, unidentified persons stole water from a well situated inside a house compound in Kakkancherry near Kozhikode using a motor pump.

Private bus runs a day's trip for 10-year-old renal patient

Ten-year-old Sreehari from Malamelvadakkathil, Nadaykkavu, Chettikulangara, who is bedridden with renal complications, has been given new hope by the locals and entrepreneurs who cooperated in the charity run of SLMS&S bus that services the route between Haripad and Mavelikkara. Pakistan’s national bird on sale, Nedumbassery woman held

A Nedumbassery-native was taken into custody here for attempting to sell rare species of Chukar Partridges.

Sumi (40), a housewife, was nabbed by a team of officials from the Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) and Wild Life Crime Control Bureau from her house.

Chukar Partridge, a Eurasian upland gamebird in the pheasant family Phasianidae, is Pakistan’s National Bird.  READ MORE
