Raising dogs is not a mere hobby for Thalikkulam Pathamkallu native Smitha. She started taking care of the dogs and puppies, when she found some abandoned in the street. Now, there are 17 dogs of different ages in her small thatched house. 18 dogs in her possession was given for free to those who demanded. Sea turtles come ashore to lay eggs; conservationists arrange protection

Sea turtles have started coming ashore to lay eggs though they are late by one month this year. Normally, the turtles start nesting in the shore by November, but this year they started arriving by the end of December only. Rosy, the Labrador breed puppy was saved by its own mother Milly through blood donation. The 2-month old puppy thus proved that blood donation is possible in canines too. Ayathil native Sooraj, the owner of the dogs, found his two puppies toxicated, when he returned after Sabarimala pilgrimage.
