Bangalore: The Indian Institute of Astrophysics (IIA) in Koramangala here has invited applications for admission to the ‘Annual Winter School’ on Solar Physics to be held at the Kodaikanal Observatory during January 7, 2018 to January 12, 2018.

The Annual Winter School is part of various programmes initiated by IIA, with the aim of motivating students from colleges and universities across the country for research in Astronomy and Astrophysics. As part of this, IIA organizes a summer and winter schools every year, wherein students are exposed to research environment/career.

Eligibility: Current batch students of 1st or 2nd year M.Sc. Physics/ Astronomy/ Mathematics/ Electronics can apply.

Accommodation & Travel: Those selected for the Winter School will be provided free boarding/lodging at Kodaikanal. Second class rail/bus fare by the shortest route between the place of residence/study and Kodaikanal will be reimbursed to them.

Application: Application is to be submitted online, through the ‘Instructions to apply’ link, given at latest by 20th October, 2017.

Applicant has to first register by entering name and e-mail address in the appropriate fields after clicking the ‘Register/Create New Account’ button. A mail will be sent to the applicant’s e-mail address which would contain all the details of creating a password or one time password for log-in. Later, applicant can reset the password by editing his/her 'Account'. After successful registration, applicants can fill up the application form by logging in using the user name and password. Applicant should ensure that they have provided the correct address, phone/Fax numbers and email ID's of 2 faculty members who are to write letters of reference for the applicant. All material should reach IIA by 20 Oct, 2017.

The results will be announced online by 10th November. Selected candidates will be contacted via the email ID's they have provided during the online submission. The selected candidates will be required to present their original mark sheets at the school.
