BUTSBirla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) having Campuses at Pilani, Goa and Hyderabad has invited applications for the BITS Admission Test (BITSAT) 2018, a computer based online test for admissions to Integrated First Degree programmes of BITS, Pilani at the 3 campuses.

Integrated First degree programmes to which admissions will be made on the basis of BITSAT-2018 are the following:

K. K. Birla Goa Campus: B.E in Chemical, Computer Science, Electronics & Communication, Electrical and Electronics, Electronics & Instrumentation, Mechanical; M.Sc in Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Economics, Mathematics, Physics

Hyderabad Campus: B.E in Chemical, Civil, Computer Science, Electronics & Communication, Electrical and Electronics, Electronics & Instrumentation, Mechanical, Manufacturing; B.Pharm; M.Sc in Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Economics, Mathematics, Physics

Final list of degree programmes offered at three campuses for 2018-19 will be made available at the BITS admission website, by 1st of May 2018.

BITSAT-2018: For the ‘Computer Based Online test’, candidate sits in front of a computer and the questions are presented on the computer monitor and the candidate answers the questions on the computer through the use of keyboard or mouse. BITSAT will be offered over a period of time and the candidate can choose the Center, the day and time of his/her convenience to take the test. BITSAT Online tests would be held between 16th May and 31st May 2018.

The planned test centers are Agartala, Agra, Ahmedabad, Allahabad, Bangalore, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Coimbatore, Delhi, Dubai Campus of BITS (International Center), Ghaziabad, Goa Campus of BITS, Gorakhpur, Gurgaon, Guwahati, Gwalior, Hyderabad Campus of BITS, Hyderabad City, Indore, Jaipur, Jalandhar, Jammu, Jamshedpur, Jodhpur, Kanpur, Kohima, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mangalore, Mumbai, Nagpur, Nasik, Noida, Patna, Pilani campus of BITS, Pune, Raipur, Rajahmundry, Ranchi, Roorkee, Siliguri, Surat, Thiruvananthapuram, Tirupati, Udaipur, Vadodara, Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam

BITSAT-2018 will be of total 3-hour duration (without break). The test will have objective type (multiple choice questions) in four Parts- Part I: Physics (40 questions); Part II: Chemistry (40); Part III: (a) English Proficiency (15) and (b) Logical Reasoning (10) and Part IV: Mathematics or Biology (For B.Pharm candidates) (45). Each correct answer fetches 3 marks, while each incorrect answer has a penalty of 1 mark.

There is no time limit for individual parts of the test. If a candidate answers all the 150 questions (without skipping any question), the candidate will have an option of attempting 12 extra questions, with 4 each from Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology. Once the candidate opts for extra questions, he/she cannot go back for correction of any of the 150 questions answered earlier.

All the questions and instructions of the test will be in English only. Candidates should bring a pen for the purpose of rough work, signing etc. Blank sheets for rough work will be provided, if required. Calculators and logarithmic tables are not allowed in the test centers.

Syllabus: BITSAT will be on the basis of NCERT syllabus for 11th and 12th class. The detailed syllabus is given in the Annexure of the handbook that can be downloaded from the website. A sample test demonstrating the features of BITSAT-2018 will be made available to the registered candidates at the BITS admission website on which he/she can practice as many times as desired.

Eligibility: Those who have passed the 12th examination of 10+2 system from a recognized Central/State board/equivalent with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics are eligible for admission to all the Programmes. Those who have passed the 12th examination with Physics, Chemistry and Biology are eligible for B Pharm Programme.

Applicant should have obtained a minimum aggregate of 75% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (if he/she has taken Mathematics in BITSAT) or a minimum of aggregate 75% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology (if he/she has taken Biology in BITSAT) in 12th examination, with at least 60% marks in each of the Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/ Biology.

Applicant should have passed 12th Examination in 2017 or should be appearing for 12th examination in 2018. If a candidate has taken more than one attempt in 12th class/equivalent, the latest performance will be considered, provided this attempt has been for the full component of subjects/courses prescribed.

Applicants should have adequate proficiency in English.

Those who have passed 12th examination in 2016 or earlier and those who are presently studying in BITS at any of its campuses are not eligible.

Application: Applications can be submitted online at http://www.bitsadmission.com/, latest by 5 pm on 13th March 2018.

While filling the online application form, if centre within India is chosen, applicant will be asked to give three preferences and will be allotted one out of the three. If one chooses Dubai as a centre, he/she will be allotted Dubai Centre only.

Application Fee for male applicants with centre in India, is Rs.2950/- and for females, it will be Rs. 2450/-. For Dubai centre, application fee for both male and female applicants will be US$70 (or Rs.4500/- Indian Rupees). Fee can be paid using (i) Credit Card/Debit Card (Master and Visa) /Online Payment Gateway or (ii) through the Net Banking enabled accounts of Indian banks using Online Payment Gateway or (iii) by cash, at a branch of ICICI Bank in India using a specially generated Pay-in Slip to be download from the website while submitting online application. 

For Foreign applicant not residing in India, payment can be made by International Credit Cards/Debit Cards using Online Payment Gateway. More details are available on the payment page.

Before starting online application, applicant should keep ready scanned images of Photograph and Signature in the format of jpg/jpeg only. Size of photo image must be between 4 kb & 50 Kb. Size of signature image must be between 1 kb & 30 kb.

Before printing out the filled-in application form, the system will generate a unique application number which should be noted down for future reference. After completing the online form, applicant can take a print out of the filled-in form and keep it for any future reference.  Applicant is not required to send the printout by post. Printout of the application form can be taken at any time by entering personal details and the unique application number.

Test center allotment and announcement to candidates will be made on 21st March 2018.

Candidates have to reserve Test date and slot between 23rd March and 5th April 2018.

Candidates would be able to download the Hall tickets with instructions from 12th April to 10th May, 2018.

BITSAT score report: At the completion of the test, the computer will announce the result to the candidate in terms of number of total correct answers and wrong answers, with the score. The candidate can also check his/her score report at the BITS admission website on the next day of his or her test date. The candidate can also take a printout of his or her score report for any further usage. No student will be allowed to repeat the test in the same year.

Admission: Admissions will be made purely on merit to be assessed based on the score obtained by the candidate in the BITSAT-2018 and subject to fulfilling the requirement of minimum marks in 12th examination.

Merit List for Admission: All candidates who have appeared in BITSAT-2018 and are interested in admission will be required to submit Admission application with 12th marks and preferences to different degree programmes offered at Pilani, Goa and Hyderabad campuses, between 1st May 2018 and 18th June 2018. Admission decisions (Iteration 1 results) will be announced on 20th June 2018. Further details about different iterations will be announced on the admission website.

Direct Admission to Board Toppers: First rank students of all the central and state boards in India for 2018 will be given direct admission to the program of their choice, irrespective of their BITSAT-2018 score as per the eligibility criteria mentioned above. Further details about this scheme will be available at BITS admission website by 1st of May 2018.
