‘Pooppoli’ poaches hearts of tourists with gorgeous flowers

Ambalavayal (Wayanad): The ‘Pooppoli’ flower show organized in Ambalavayal continues to attract people with beautiful varieties of cactus plants. Terra, headquartered in Ambalavayal, has arranged a large collection of cactus for the show. The plants are also distributed in glass pots as decorative items for households and offices. Major varieties of cactus are Mammillaria, Haworthia, Kalanchoe, Opuntia and Moon cactus.

Moon garden, a paradise of white flowers, is another crowd puller of the show. The garden consists of more than 100 varieties of white coloured flowers like jasmine, white hibiscus, thumba (Leucas zeylanica), crape jasmine, marigold, balsam, daisy, salvia and aster. The flowers in moon garden start blooming from the beginning of January. Along with flowers, a collection of white coloured leaves also is arranged in the garden. Moon garden is prepared in an area of 2.5 acres.

The presence of foreigners in the flower show was remarkable. Majority of the foreign visitors are from Germany. The German tourists mostly prefer the months of January and February to visit Kerala.
