Thiruvananthapuram: Police on Monday registered a case against Dr K Girish, who is an Assistant Professor of Psychology at Thiruvananthapuram Medical College, for allegedly attempting to sexually abuse a 13-year-old boy.

The incident allegedly occurred when the boy visited Dr Girish's private clinic for counselling as it was suspected that he had learning disability.

The parents of the boy have submitted a complaint to the Chief Minister, DGP and Commissioner alleging that no action was taken even though 8 days have passed since the incident happened.

The complaint filed by the boy’s mother to the city police commissioner says that the boy was taken to the doctor's clinic on the directions of the school counsellor, who suspected learning disability in the boy.

"We took our son top the clinic on the evening of August 14. We did not have any worry as Dr Girish is regarded as an eminent psychologist.  After talking with the parents, our son was called into the doctor's room. Our son came out after 20 minutes. However, he was gloomy. He later cried and told us about the bad experience," the boy's mother says in the statement submitted to the city police commissioner.

"My son told us that the doctor kissed him several times and also touched on his private part. As soon as we came to know about the incident, we contacted the childline helpline.  The childline activists conveyed information to the Thampanoor police the next day," the complaint says.

As the incident happened within the limits of the Fort Police station, the case was handed over to that particular station on 16th.

The complaint says that the Fort police did not record the boy’s statement even though the detailed statement of the boy’s father was recorded.  There were also pressure to reach a compromise after the registering of the case, the complaint says.
