Thiruvananthapuram: In a special gesture, Governor P Sathasivam invited the Mathrubhumi-Krishibhumi Award winners to Raj Bhavan on the Independence Day.

The invitation was extended when the Governor presented the award to siblings from Kannur – K M Rajan and K M Damodaran – at a function held here on Thursday. The award carries Rs 1 lakh, a citation and a memento.

In his inaugural address, Governor said that he is a regular viewer of the Krishibhumi and lauded the efforts of Mathrubhumi in promoting agriculture.

Sathasivam also shared his experience in farming and narrated tales from his life to highlight the need to promote agriculture.

The other five contestants, who reached the final round, also attended the function.
