Finally, they harvested 100 kg potatoes, defeating parthenium
Marayur: Amidst their busy work schedule, the electricity board employees finds time to cultivate vegetables. The staff of Marayur KSEB section office has cultivated potato, beans and spinach. They also intend to get rid of the toxic weed called parthenium which causes different types of allergies. The contractors also took part in farming with the employees.
Earlier, the premises of the section office were filled with parthenium plant. Thus many of the staff in the office were affected with allergy. In fact, the vegetable cultivation was planned to eliminate the toxic weed. For this, they first uprooted all the parthenium plants from the land and then started farming.
The expenses for starting cultivation and other maintenance works were taken by the employees and contractors. They have picked 100 kg potatoes in the first phase of harvest which took place on Wednesday.
