Cocoa cultivation to comfort rubber farmers
Kanjirappally: Cocoa cultivation can provide a temporary relief for the rubber farmers. It can be used as an intermediate crop cultivated in between the coconuts and arecanut plantations.
Cocoa takes only two years to bloom. If properly cared for, it can be harvested in the second year itself.
Also different subsidies are available at the krishi bhavan for cocoa cultivation.
There is also a cocoa production society functioning in Manimala to help with the cultivation.
